" Crooked little thing. Hello Warren. Reviewed by nick -- goods."
" Aren't going to let -- into a little secret. Broncos have a sense if you look on Imus said it was particularly unlikely secret. You've probably already worked -- yourself. But his worth repeating because I believe it's Keats once so many -- from so many varied in different walks of life different pages different cultures and languages. Love this thing cool -- fly. There's destruction of human often doll course subtle but sometimes -- about tunnel -- full of permeates the look of -- Sweden. Old given his in definable talked of joy in the intricacies of spoken language rocks up until he gives you smack in the face with the danger tragedy -- the situation. Are touched on this theme before the Broncos are perhaps more appreciative what some might consider unconventional in Cuba. Martha and ritual the mighty whoosh space today aimed at a few and a -- of fans off. I have been his appreciation extends to books as well as TV because I'm going to recommend the subject of this -- two years but don't think -- with sport to quote. I think this book -- my soul Warren Ellis is mapped -- the -- underbelly of America with a foreign has clarity the lunatics bleak. Funny inventive symbolized the appalling this book is damned -- on paint fumes. Thus fronts one -- Sweden in the globe on the back of this evil little black book. And it is a polling there -- scenes initial shock and possibly offend. -- before delivering a killer punch line or are you witching also would associate all coolness of has been said or that this happened because there is no alternative but to laugh like a train. It's a grownup book and the language reflects that vote to be honest the profanity by a fatherly shocking thing about. I'll be quoting from it says in the unlikely event that you can't handle PG thirteen the -- spaced skipped Indian. Warren -- is that kind of process. There is much anger and venom in what he writes times but it is usually to get you to think about the real issues. Sometimes that means making you -- for the sheer absurdity of things and sometimes you'll want to cry the inhumanity said casually displaced. Ellis is nuns clinic's front and I would yet again anyone who seriously interest in performance -- a medium to check out some of his will look. Trans metropolitan in particular is simply also mean viciously satirical and relevant and funny and insane. And he will spoke almost everything and terrific future on the news every evening in on him. Crooked little -- a slight departure from this in the at the strike novels essentially just crime mystery. Though there's little striped or square about. It is not perfect it is not a or at least the basic Crowe threw the story is -- I originally though. I've come across various motions of the road trip mystery before but I'm sure that Ellis is well aware of this. His good friend go off and did something similar with preach another comic epic that is equally terrific -- transmit out by now. But that's not the point. -- to Charles stories that can be identified as any number of basic traits but as the way that they uphold the terms of basic tale into a great story. Crooked little -- manages this since sites. It is immensely readable and or have you -- you have go to be shooting me. At numerous points along the way as well as make -- painfully hardened possibly feeling a little -- he has. Ellis pulls no punches and delivers some shocking Nevis and St. but I don't think he can be accused of going for the gratuitous gross out just the sight of it. Except when he doesn't -- just screwed. Okay and these really that the Allen and Nathan to handle on Friday and I was I whenever you know that that I ever heard but love me. And I don't -- that -- now would get ready to -- special thing. Yep. Yeah they are definitely saying things into -- I've ever. Okay."
" World of the birds are many and -- Almost as varied as the people's an -- them. Yet despite this dizzying variety focus of a similar mind or profession tend to group together and help the similar. The good the bad and the geek. All have their little get together to swap stories. Given receive lessons and consume beer a lot of beer. Meanwhile at -- and 28. A familiar presence is trying to -- To fit in."
" Now let's see this is all -- if there tablet today. So where a Gorham work shopping care and maintenance of brass knuckles supposed to be it and done a meeting for yesterday. Opening panel on the risk management was a bit of a no brainer. Are threats always -- variable so. They ammo election you and it was this morning that was an all asks -- now. The knuckle duster care workshop is definitely blow to --"
" Year. Dave body you're looking for the breast -- think he gap. Did -- it got moved to the events luck they've figured they wanted folks mostly cut just for the afternoon straddles different room as well. Where is being held now. In the bar."
" That's gonna go well it. I -- you are -- we've been -- teeth."
" Oh is an eight fans meet -- here moment and it's not really can't send me to find it. Will it end here to -- she managed to get the part contract for the caught. How to hailed -- she managed to get that nobody else would touch it."
" So anyway she managed to get top rate for the contract."
" Figures -- that way anyway might as -- get -- during."
" Spoken like -- Congo war."
" They can't contain it and it. She's -- and you particularly. Where early on our schedules -- special guests are showing up his good. Has relied tell -- what we've -- Of course I think that didn't question that -- would get. Okay. Give me a chance to -- them. I don't question. Oh. -- equipment to anti realize that maybe -- S might -- show. Like aren't they aim at an earlier panel -- same for this season as we hope. And so I'm curious to ask everybody here who's going to actually get on the microphone talk. What kind of things they're doing to halt. And it will get what -- question and -- here. The US immediately chased -- and answer that question. What special thing that you're giving to hold because obviously. There. They committing we have a -- noon -- things but what do you do you mean to promote the -- keep it or lack. I didn't and it. -- I -- for awhile now that I'm going to admit my first team has very very you. That's intent I don't think they're matching hats out there that -- Okay so -- keep that question in mind is that we have -- we might come back to. So without further review I'm going to introduce Jason Palmer in the -- phenomenal artist and here. And one that tells Mary I'm Mary outlet outlet a lot of war on the other hand you know little bit there you go -- and hopefully -- show. Yeah and it and talk about. What inspired you do this. Up okay. This -- did prince and this show. First came -- can you can and who. Sorry Jill. You --"
" Just before it actually it was right after the dvd came out there was a release party. My. My new bride at the time Knightley -- that's cool lives in the firefight shows. And I know the felt granite package brings them. So I put together a firefight John Kennedy have print. That is kind of the early version of that and so. Hundreds -- if you -- to me not. Self control. And and oh. I didn't I didn't drawing on. Other firefly cast and -- really liked it in the whole cat. So I continued to do that. When -- came out. I got the license. Just treasuries attitude and that has been a whole series of -- they've done but it firefight for an Israeli print and I've just finished it and this is speed things that are ready portraits set. And there's a little polish let's be done on have been pretty much done. So what if you like -- a I want -- Ariel you people out there and podcast people have for those that podcast win we have always will have links in the show and good. To all the -- If it could do overdone it you'll you'll information. Cool."
" Care and skill that's stuff I think that. About this that the carrier will strap everything got logo very cool."
" And this. This is the book itself because they realize there's ten -- and that's a Lotta -- they ask people to use out. But this is something that you can put your coffee table it put on your shelf or whatever and just. We just an electrical connector. So. He's got this really different kind of isn't that -- it it isn't the actual prints limited edition print and hundred of them are satisfied with this. The results of metal version without coming up later but for now this version of a lot more affordable. Those respondents -- captain. That each friend. Has a corresponding character page sketches I've done that the character. A comment that usually some other cast. Some of the characters that about that character within the show or movie and then just a few comments by me. And Nathan saw this account upon just got it immediately -- I was very flattered and then the I just sovereign and -- And they're like the that we love it overheated and admit that showed that he does it so where we're really happy about that. So there's there's a big -- hero. And you can come over and take a closer look. -- about the way it was a pain in the butt. I'd here on and it just wasn't Jane -- and it just and it it look like adamant you know who it is but it just did it. The -- that we I want you to want to used that completely you son. About the characters. And I even got that bad at one point and as I did that that quality that because Archie that the DS are yet it does looks sparky enough. And she was going to post for me that he is not a can't do it. I can't beat it carriage for just an instant either -- got not begin again or not. Does who has said. Well he yeah. But she sees if there's anything else I can do to help when he did chuck I just like watched chuck every time we had a good genes and -- stood out. And I kind of got it yeah -- Got river. Simon. It too much of the time here -- You want me remember -- it. That so it kill you know. By the -- each actor has. Gotten. The number one I just gave arena and -- they're number one of its limited edition of 300 each one Lani got the number one this. And it is hanging up corporate selling. This is a bonus prince not done -- black -- little bit let's do which is how cool this guy who. So you get the -- that. You get him. That final one was the first time showing -- I hope he's happy with it."
" For the of the homeless jobless."
" And the last. That the risk the characters that didn't quite make the grade but we all -- for oh here's well. And these -- Hughes and that success. Just hair. You can get it now. Where was we have a few left with -- shoot the show and I think they have. But for more and -- just over at the book -- them there. On -- and here's the deal there tourist guide for the -- to bring it outside the motor lobby on the lower floor marquee level. Yes and if you write the escalator you will EJ yeah a well laid out by the dealers Graham and if the elevators and escalators he's right there he added -- count. They -- these are available individually and they are available. -- as the set. Candle so it as an added that whenever you want if you just want closer look that work. Did you say how much. At the show we've got them for 325 they're a bit more on the line I think -- 425 online. But that's because each friend is 35 bucks. And then altogether puzzlement the bells and whistles but that's still fantastic bargain might think a lot. The prince of 35 on line but I'm on 25 here to. It'll break the drag. So we've we've run out of the firefly and I think we're also had a serenity here at the show. Those have been going fast that the pixel. Fifteen just. In the first hour of the points -- to firefighter. Some weather so popular first on -- did people to like it very flattering. Thank you click."
" Except were glad to have Scott Allie. Editor from our course comics with us today and we hope that you can now answer your questions about the upcoming shepherd's -- series force and anything else is going on over to our course. I just got an inherent -- first vote if you could just break this down a real quick synopsis. The upcoming shepherd tells comics and what we can expect to see in the first the first couple -- for the first issue really what we can expect the story to be like everything as much as you can tell us."
" You know not going to tell you anything so yeah sorry justice so what anti spoiler he he doesn't like -- he doesn't. It even do covers sometimes it's hard because we just we just don't want to give anything away. All really and about about the book series. Is that it. You know it takes place in the past it answers all your questions about the character. And we're going to yeah within the book with a series will reveal a lot of things about the character. We're just not really going to say anything about it until then. What I can tell you is at this point we don't know what's gonna come out. I'm supposed to get the whole outline for it blatantly the page by page outline for it. In September but I'm kinda doubt and that's going to happen because how difficult. How time can dreaming at all -- is former and am. So. We don't have if we don't have this absolute. The the ship its book arm on the schedule right now we're hoping to get it out. You know late winter for -- nine I mean like February or march but we just don't know yet. Fair enough. What some. What are some of the good experiences you can share with some good stories that you've had with Josh for film -- answering to do better days -- the last couple years. Well wouldn't work with job is. As I say and play any time I get asked a question working with just such a great education. One of the things that. Working with them on fray and working with -- money other comics who -- over time. I feel like I learned a lot of R rating but working closely with -- and be able to kind of get inside his process. And everything I learned about rating from just a try to apply to my other book suffering Intel boy -- the other things -- work on Michael -- academy. And stuff that are at myself. On -- easy need to think it's been so -- so unique is. His role as executive producer of the book his role working out the alliance with writers and -- in the script back and forth with the writers. Is this -- gives me an incredible lesson in how to edit the script. Working with Frankie -- like Brian. Brian is one of my ear comic book writers he's he's one of the best guys write comics today and are to be going through four issues of the script. Edited basically edited by Johnson written by Brian Indian in their for that process. You know you learn a lot about how to how to edit -- how to work with writers and how to get. The best out of somebody who is the best. How to -- in -- jobs can. Improve Bryant's game. You know that there's a lot from going there and you know. -- better days and -- it. This is somebody comes and I'm surprised apprised of where this story is going and moments from laughing out loud because of how I mean it's it is or just how well it works like I find myself laughing more. At the grave. Material than at the funny stuff because it's like oh my god that is going to destroy. The fans that's going to destroy there either that's that's what it's all about. And so there's some of that coming up and some of that that we've already done it that I might have known a year like the sassy thing and you vote pretty early in. They go yes people are going to get mad and they really did. But that's you know that's exciting and it's fun."
" Well we know done when he comes comics and graphic novels and everything that to him. Good writing is very important but they are or is also -- part of it too and -- we -- Joshua. That's really good writers out there this year. Georgia's Gentoo is here trying out with a and he is he is he helped out with -- tremendously. And that was hit a lot of good artwork goes especially impressed with is -- to better days covers and you know list if you could just tell us but the creative process a lot ideas go back and forth and you know -- really only puts his his self improve on that piece of artwork that goes on the cover. The serenity come."
" Yeah with the with the -- with the writers in almost every case -- coming at me with a writer almost every case. There's been a couple of exceptions. You know if not even note Tom with the artist is more 5050 with the artists it's more. He might have an idea or I have the idea or he described to me in great detail of what we're looking for artistically and then I'll throw -- people out of ultimately the choice ultimately the choice is almost always is. But there is a lot of back and forth we have Adam on the heredity covers. I'm that was entirely just his idea. -- and got to know each other pretty well through bunch of other other projects and Adam to the one cover. Forum. The rented the first or any trade. He. He just Newton knew each other pretty well and they had they thrown around the idea. There's an effort during the series we have the gimmick of nine covers and nine characteristic nine covers three for each issue. We didn't want to do that again because it would just be doing the same tag and it was such a big -- it would be real redundant. Of the two of them came the idea that the trip -- image and having at all linked up together. And so I'm not sure who was initially justice idea or out of his idea but I know the two of them talked back and forth a bunch but it before you -- came to me. I mean before the before the idea was -- to me. The the idea you know the two of them discussed a lot how beat up people should be hopped up -- should be in particular. That's I think the pencils that we saw. For the first cover patent. Pat now really. It it it hit the joker really well of like the big grin contrast with him. Being very beat up but -- it got too far away from -- who he is and administer this image too much who Shelly -- a period of -- back. So there was a lot of back and forth over the course of doing those three pieces. About him working out details in just giving him but about it at the bandages from out was. The thing I remember most clearly about just really really getting very specific about what he wanted to see. But yet three entire process it's me trying to pull it out Adam and working -- the scheduling and making sure that technically everything's working five. The concept of coverage -- statement every step of the way for other covers it's different. Sometimes which show on Buffy will just sort of -- what's happening at issue. And then she'll pitch clever ideas to us and if that's the case -- these little less clothes he continued to prove everything every step of the way. But he's not his hands on his like when human Adam come up with the idea and he's like -- to -- bandages. With -- if it's just like did just might be a little bit. More. More hands off. We the alternate covers the Georges does. That's always the case if we tell what's in the nation and he George is amazing we must cover art you might get. You might just get one cover sketch. -- many you're lucky get two or three different ideas with George will literally he he never numbers and it always does the alphabet with a and we always get. Down to like them and lower piece like there's always that many. And it's amazing that you just never get that much that many things choose from and generally -- Georgia's. There all you know you're talking -- thirteen totally different ideas. Rather than just like well here -- this character a little closer. So -- gives us a million things to choose from and then job. And -- Sierra stands the co writers there's correctness. Operator that issue. -- all kind of vote in generally deferred it to us I think on the latest one what are we doing a cover for right now. But -- 23. Is. I don't Arafat and on a -- of Buffy twenty threes Buffy and Andrew on a mission together and and so we we've -- Georgia's covers often are kind of silly ones like group. We kind of take a chance on him and so we do and some were sort of doing -- James Bond -- with -- I think it's funny and and Buffy as -- some tough recover. And yet -- give us you know fourteen different options for that. And I think ultimately be I think ultimately we just referred to George's and everybody had a different today we look toward his two when he wanted I think there. Great. Well coalescing want to ask -- warrantless sort of time is was that's part of -- country this weekend and so far."
" It. Hand."
" I think lighten Canadian friend everybody. I'll be sure to tell that was good and -- I don't know you know actually it was when -- Powell's girlfriend Sam started doing the chicken dance in the middle of the drum circle last night. I have and we played -- stuck with an empty water bottle and every time we -- didn't want -- Landon either on some his header in a backpack so -- that was any you guys sorry that. So. Scott we really appreciate you come announced it into some really looking forward to the comics that you and just bring us in the next couple years we've really appreciate it thinks they."
" The brewing in consumption of alcohol is an almost universal activity in many human societies. In the convention going culture to consumption side at least has been raised to a high art of parable of the glory days of cons on earth that laws. A seasoned practitioner in the ways of getting on. " You're listing to news from the verse brought to you by the signal. With dragon con in the signal summer break some of these news items occurred several weeks ago but we do want to Quechua. While speaking to MTV -- was asked about the question of a serenity steeple. He said that he would do it in a heartbeat but that there are currently no plans for a sequel. " Parent to pick each Matt on the -- no resemblance to -- It's -- have to be on my topless. After all it's a modern day show about a budget people who are in a paper company under her boss. " I'm in the middle of listening to episode fourteen and I just started hearing Mary king's article I was so moved by the article and -- the player Starr at the -- Mary summed up so much of my feelings about firefly and serenity. I would love another movie or another TV shows set in the verse but I don't think it's going to happen part of the problem is the success of our beloved cast. Almost all of them have gone on to other great projects and won't be available any time soon. Our beloved creator himself is neck deep in his new show doll house I'm -- the feeling of the window for additional firefly is passed at least for the time being. If that is the case and for the sake of argument let's just say it is we have two choices. We can continue to love the show in -- all of our time attending conventions watching the balks at all over and over again and actively campaigning to get more more people watching the episodes in the movie. We can stay focused on the past. In the past is a good place it's a safe place it's comfortable -- We know the characters the stories we know that it won't disappoint us and we know that we can't get our hearts broken again. They've already -- just wants and we can take pride in the bronco community doing the impossible. The other choice is an -- we can branch out and support new material created by our cast and crew. This is scary because what if you start watching doll house and it's not a hit. What -- tickets canceled or even worse. It's not very good hard to believe I know but anything's possible. One of the reasons I watched a brick last year was because it had Adam Baldwin in the cast. I also watched heartland because of -- backer. Both of these shows today. Last but I'm still -- I watch them because I was there supporting the actors that they tried other things. As an aside daybreak is just begging for the signal to cover the secular view I really like those thirteen ups its. Summer -- has found great success has a powerful -- terminator but the good count in the Sarah Connor chronicles. And -- bounce back as part of the wonderfully sweet series chuck. We were able to -- captain tight pants as a different kind of hero injustice musical looked horrible. A verse is alive and well just in a different form. Supporting Johnson the other creative -- new endeavors not only gives us the chance to meet new characters and hear new stories. But it also helps us to get more firefly. What's that Hussein watching doll house -- chuck cant help us get more fire on. Well here's my reasoning the more successful or PDA has become the more power -- they will have in the entertainment industry. The more clone the greater the possibility that the studio come to jobs and ask him from will be idea and I'm betting you'll spot a little bit about a little more fire. Sorry for the rant but as this at the top of the email Mary's email it to court I think I'll go back to listen to the rest of the episode now keep hope alive Jesse Jackson. "
" Mary's editorial how it's firefly sparked off a lot of responses both from listeners and within the crew so thanks so much for those thoughts Jesse."
" And I have to say I have had the same thoughts and I hope your reasoning is sound -- I also hope that the more successful the stars and just become the more clout that they'll -- in the entertainment industry and then a sequel becomes you know profitable which means -- studios more liable to finance -- if they think it's going to make a profit so -- and with what Johnson just did with doctor horrible he showed how."
" With very little investment he can be profitable yeah studio involving backing that at all so it's -- it's a whole new business model."
" Yeah yeah."
" Right next we have an email from Wesley crossed --"

" Every one indeed has the story Terry we have more people got story segment coming up this season and thanks for sharing yours with Hamas. Next email is from Mike -- I'd like to talk about Josef -- she's one of my favorite characters on the show and that has nothing to do with my having a weakness for residents -- not at all. I believe she's the -- PDA each character that would be a best fit into the -- however not only is that not very likely but something that quite simply must not happen. If you accept the thesis that one of the reasons this ready crew work so well people together and as the show is that they are all reflections of some aspect of Mel. -- it's easy to see why you separate would fit into the crook the same trooper. Which you for shows up on serenity she appears as Hamas and wash that appearance later Chris false if she demonstrates that she's even less predictable and river. As a fighter she's almost as good as -- While you certainly can't beat him in a fair fight she can give him a run for his money. And she's even less likely to fight fair than Jane as a mechanic she manages to disable the ship in a manner that both -- and wash -- Monica. And when it comes to using her womanly -- She again draws admiration from a crew expert and -- And like Simon she proposes a crime that makes a real profit and finally passed his at least a shadowy as the shepherds. Looking over that list I have to consider that she may be the second best character to have my back going into an unknown situation. She brings all the crew skills to the table in one convenient package sure she's not as good as any one of them at their specialty. But if I don't know which one I'll need and can only bring one person -- Assuming a camper email of course it gets really inching when you consider how she is a reflection of men. I'd say she's the third most important such reflection the first two in no particular order -- Simon and book signing as a reflection of -- the ones. Mail before he lost his faith that serenity valley. Book as a reflection of mail that will be. Mail after he retains his faith. The movie actually shows us males -- to go down that path and that transition is much of what makes the movie what it is. Josef -- is a reflection of -- that could be. A mallet has lost not only his faith but also his sense of right -- As such -- fit right into the crook. Of course in spite of her impressive array of skills she has nothing to offer a review -- meaning she can do one of them can do better. Work yet she could easily bring out the reflection of her in camp causing -- to lose sight of what is right and what it's. And such your presents a huge potential risk not just to the crew but to the store. Which is why she must never become a part of the crew."
