" And should also we have another us signal alone cannot."
" I am and that freighter and I am well I can't do that with the signal."
" Excellent at all so we camps mother voices we talks crowd recognized much evidence --"
" I haven't I. Okay I thought kind of took."
" We given it came from the we can leading podcast which has been. Dark now for many months but we have put in new had to sit out this past week."
" We get we're gonna try to make an astonishing comeback to the podcasting world. And it's great to be here yet thank you product."
" Our pleasure we'll look encoder RBI guys out it's always slots on to those who may not be listeners have that we can we didn't meet highly recommend you check them out. Kevin's attempt at a lot of great stuff what they took the opportunity to -- It's why we asked did you want a leader we -- be lots of fun talking about the subject. Specifically. We're assuming although it might not be the case that if you're still listening to show that you can't see doctor horrible sing along blog. If you haven't. And urges caught all the all the sudden you don't stop at the stuff but now we don't want to know anything about it over or what we think that that's what's gonna be Decourt discussion today. Well specifically that's something that jobs put out so last summer. As an Internet based. -- art video that has -- available on dvd as well so this is all new venture. Are very interesting story a musical. And some -- Cases spokesmen are recognized Neil Patrick Harris -- done quite a bit of work and also completion date for those who remember her from her work Buffy and her other. Online. Project called guild might touch on as well so this goes up. Certainly. Folks remember. It until it's well so. It's always fun talking but I just don't always know where to start where. So they don't want to jump in here and then the -- talk about once you heard about doctor horrible coming held. And then had a chance to actually do that first episode so what he's taught us."
" I don't I don't mind starting I ask. I downloaded the first episode I was very excited whenever you come -- now obviously doing. -- sort of the lack of Sweden material there for awhile that made me kind of edgy and I started watching the first episode in May be the first. Three minutes two minutes when when the doctor is doing his blog and haven't sorted. One on one dialogue with with -- listener that I was. I was not excited. If you didn't start off in a way that that I expected until I got that built up a great deal. Come into the of course this and they launching the first musical number that all changed and it was just awesome pass that -- it was very odd for me to see something. From Johnson and the reaction that I did in the first two minutes of course that was in retrospect when -- when I've -- homework and go back it was very unfounded."
" I -- and when you definitely when you get back and watch it again you can you have. It's nothing like that first impression I don't know what the Al chaired that as well but that first couple's 2 July. OK eight. I -- and then it turned into and you know musical wonderful men and street John affection."
" when I first -- this serious -- you didn't -- following completion -- skilled and really excited about new media and the -- I got so excited. That they were going to be eight. You know big name Hollywood does just between doing something online and I got I got really excited that he does the first episode intimidate I didn't have that reaction I didn't I didn't want to protect the military consists of I was just smiling. You know -- here don't -- that I was watching. A big name guy in Hollywood making something new media. That I could go purchased follow later on on iTunes and then and support because I'm just so sick and immediate so. When the musical numbers hit. I didn't even really. Honestly expect -- I knew it was a sing along blog but I just didn't know that it was going to be such musical number so just economic data kind of it was really enjoyable experience let's estimate."
" Yeah actually. When I heard about it I had I was relatively new to the Wheaton world. And so I was just excited that there was something that I would be able pew."
" At the same time that -- on how can they can do. Higher fly -- I can the vaccine rain delay so it was kind of exciting. You I guess it part of the beginning. And I -- I can't publicly about the music you like it I didn't know what to expect it was a single a -- one of the pool at this look like and so when there. That's so cool and it opened I was. I was excited to see where this is going and then the need to -- really I was excited about that I was just very cool it was. A lot of people say that musical iiroc and strange because -- eight. It -- they get a break into song at random times and it doesn't fit. And I didn't feel that way about doctor horrible at all I felt like it it really well with the flow and it hit the music. What part of the story. Well it it was integrated into the story well oh yeah I was just I thought it was cool neat idea."
" I think a lot of us you know knowing and having our -- jaws because I certainly remember seeing. That their tourist. Dep which is difficult because so many people try to watch early on -- and -- doing very much hey you know help okay. What -- did so I mean I I. I should I enjoyed it but I also knew that I didn't have a grasp quite yet to be three different parts distributed network I kind of had an accomplice okay I'm gonna have to wait probably kind of digest it a little more. When it seems more conceded its entirety I did. A very much enjoyed that I was caught off guard and I have no idea what was going -- Just like most of the work there's going to be challenged by which Arkansas."
" And I -- my expectations of him -- his work are so high now that. But not being hit with something really big right up front. Through me and it was a good experience for me to have where I didn't leaving the gate ticket -- my -- greatest thing about Christine. But slowly but surely really built in something exceptional -- In this was compressed with and particularly three episode 400 but let me through the entire. An experience that I got some of the other shows that he did where it started off slower and got more more excited and more more intuitive by the end -- the congress."
" I went intently that fairly high expectations. Of the event and it was obviously not disappointed at all that I definitely went into it went. Great expectations. Could be blown away if I don't -- And in music what really got me would be equality of."
" Yes that was very well done that -- kind of caught me off guard Derrick -- was a little she was gonna be web based but all to myself a little bit that was very. -- that was accused at all from a production quantity or 600. Some heartbroken that feeling can also this thing didn't have a pet -- I don't get."
" Really. Is really the credit to them that that they were willing to do that whereas you know Neil Patrick Harris. A lot of time on Broadway and it totally comfortable singing and that collegiate anything billion you know not collection couple. Know that it's really credit than that they're like okay look."
" He says that. I think that Jack has that effect on people I think people get you know typically want to please him and do whatever he's that's. I know I'm certainly glad that he called me up -- a couple of minutes and said hey you wanna thank you. I wouldn't say I don't think you really wanna hear me things but I'll be -- yeah okay spray a couple epic but."
" Announced a monthly bulletin that that you -- what -- can get out of."
" So I can never with a child and I can say anything in Atlanta and even night. How militias that should be you weren't the typical. Well I added Ed but not so little the commentary during the commentary she did say that. Unsure -- you know little Mariah Carey and then that talk about it like bring it down a bit of power I remember that -- afternoon."
" But it does bring up a good point talking about musicals and and certainly that's what we can bring in the the -- each side a bit but do you once more feeling what are you take -- media have any talks talks on on what can adjust on the musicals I mean this is not something you see your traditional TP."
" I think that's probably one of the reasons why he's so it's so appealing for help -- that -- it's not something that we really ever see. And that I hate to -- these two really good at and of course he has. Close relatives that are also very very talented and it it's it's all about the lyrics for Hank and again and I think it's head is. Ability he did get actors to do essentially whatever he wants them to dale and I think he's. Very talented -- expressing his vision and getting people to. If you can't be able to perform. In -- and create his."
" Veterans. Who think -- there's probably a lot of or at least a number of other. Folks in the industry event at our. As passionate about musicals that shot it and they just don't have. -- environment that he does meaning -- a strong fan base and by the time but he's he's fixated. He had -- this strong enough fan base that -- and magic he felt relatively confident that I really can't salute them. -- didn't let him make that leap. And it didn't didn't let itself weld into the Internet -- to where he's got a very strong fan base and it worked slandering animals that look at any piece of -- throw that out. So there's got to be get a degree of confidence that comes with that to say you know I'm gonna do something that other people in this industry they just can't along -- they're not. -- a position where they're willing to take the risk to do and it allows them to do. There's this wonderful stuff and he's he knows -- lightning doesn't strike twice he's clearly. He and his his entourage of people that are assisting him didn't hurt very talented and it couldn't help put in both cases is exceptional."
" I think it might also. I'm a little bit from the whole -- ideas that you know he's he's he's an artist you create what you have passion for one of the mind that he's. From the the Buffy one -- feeling he talks about how. You know he would. Some people over the counter parties and they always get together and start singing and doing musical bits and and he really took some talent there and up my whole deal with the idea. And I think that -- it's really of the reasons that he was. Could get he has what is that would Johnson musical I think it's more of you know he enjoyed doing them at all -- fashion that was fun for him his personal life any problems what better thing to do my job. Then what I'd love to do in my life. So there must have been so let's."
" Can England really predict that it like for everybody can't. He hit at that yeah. Well I'm really I I thought doctor horrible before it Scotland -- feeling and."
" Doctor horrible at the storytelling of the Congo is a bit more sophisticated."
" And once while appealing I think I don't know I don't get you know coming from the."
" Trying to remember the congregation that been allowed to -- England are feeling but but it feel like. Like it has a progression and you know in bad. The need to call. Television and heard showed creating. Well I don't know I just think that it if you decide to do another one Ben."
" If this you know and progressing and that would be it would be simply meaning it could be -- or something can."
" Well it's it's it's also wonderful I think Kirk for some like myself who's not like a fan of musicals but of course he didn't -- like that but. The -- wonderful way that in both cases. Bill lyrics in the -- themselves tie and so deeply to the story. It's not just don't get totally taken out it's not like -- let's go down it's a little truck sank in a nickel back and it was just thrown in. The only situation was actually integral to distort. Now whether or not a person forming it's a good singer and because you've got a larger captured having these folks do it but. To do this synergy of how well it gets to me is just really something that I it back and our. Certainly -- Having signal once more feeling -- but then coming to deduct a horrible. It on multiple -- rigs when you can dissect the lyrics a little more -- more -- it -- but it doesn't -- the moment realizing that it was forced."
" I'm kind of thrilled with the fact that. -- actor obviously you're doing all they aren't singing and it's down it's very genuine and there's not this hyped up operatic. State that that they talent -- I mean when you are listening to them sing their song you're listening to is that the character. Things they're learning I mean it's it's -- it's Mary. I like he added that fully integrated."
" I try to -- sabbatical. And it makes filling in line so much more communicating his city. Well he pretty much nailed that character."
" can -- and they'll go ahead Brad."
" Apple look at things in speaking -- of the ways you know that's the music just floated perfectly with help part of the story I mean I've I don't know if you want to switch that the -- Talk about the musical commentary -- that was just brilliant. I mean how they were able to and say that's because the MDC and commentary and the back and forth banter while feel about it was just. Just blew me away at this point that over and over just."
" It is almost as good. Played entertaining fashion chain as watching C -- original and work. I think it's probably equally entertaining battle I mean America certainly part of it that or maybe you you don't surpassed. And entertainment value. And as you listen to it diet several more times than it's really get a good feel for the lyrics and that is exactly what that -- and Terry is. It yes truly entertaining moments."
" I'd love to know how they came up he's kept the idea. Of doing a musical commentary just we thought we'd seen need to be I don't of creativity now we're gonna do it as a commentary it's locked."
" I in -- all manner of things kind of grown up until after the summit that had affected the writers' strike went on that in their -- that maybe wasn't enough to. You keep this group of talented people occupy whereas they might have otherwise since they had an opportunity to say you know instead of during the regular old. Commentary that we do training ill -- dvd that we put out 10 we sit back and take couple days to make this something special. So I think that that writer's strike may have given them the time to do this sort of thing. It has now may -- set precedent and I can raise the bar on the sort of stuff I would love to see. More of that type of thing not just from China Sweden -- the -- from anybody has to take the time to make make this stuff really compelling and have to be. Extra features. Even come close to the original work is. It is unheard of and into the first time I've ever seen anything that climate system didn't release symbol on it sounds. A little side of the dvd."
" Well I know I am. At some people look at that actually the music."
" I'm commentary musical is and they'd prefer it over."
" The songs from the actual doctor horrible and I'm I didn't. You know I feel equally about them I love them both but I can totally see like somebody would put would enjoy -- the commentary more."
" Because they're something a little work. I don't know I don't wanna get more clever but there's just something a little. More unique about it I guess what you're saying about it being a commentary. In music -- you know that I can't you know people I do love it make people look into it as you know like -- you know I can't elaborate now."
" Yeah I it's it's really something I don't know Armitage. Up -- you folks. -- had a chance yet maybe it accessible to catch up sturdy screen to take. I can't say much fun it was the last couple of years in my -- dragon -- being able to go to sing along to bolt bus speed up and the doctor horrible out here. Several hundred other folks in a room singing along with -- somehow I don't feel quite so -- is not normally to the current."
" He we got we actually wanted things they're really looking forward to kill the epithet but."
" Did anybody just do that at your local looked just upsurge screening she ducked or all the big screen this year. We we didn't follow. And pedal -- bomber. Doubt that that I must say that a chance to interact with -- with a lot of other friends and and so we're doing really elevates at least tribute to another level it's it's. It's really quite fun so. When I got one part at at a -- and so go ahead."
" I was gonna say we make up for part of that by having the only thing along in the car seat --"
" She's sure does not Robert that either. Not a little aren't you know what I adapter in my case around -- wait till my wife and daughters her out on other things before I can popped -- in because they didn't. You know that the second party certainly evident because we're not put all my psychotic. What should let alone be seen along the Celtics and."
" because -- willing good until."
" We -- we -- comes up yeah yeah I know I learned a couple of a couple of moments verify you know we'll just blow past -- People in -- this."
" I'm Kevin -- I'm Wendy -- And amber in there and where the host of a new podcast called turning into scifi TV."
" Weary disgust I -- shot and it shows currently on television and some from cast your fans just like you."
" Join us and our water cooler in backwards discussions of your favorite shows and strangely enough you can find us online at tuning into side by TV."
" Dot com he's seeing him."
" But it meant you know what -- says about one maybe."
" I never watched. Why."
" So your site like he could -- one of the best shows ever they had no details no spoilers I'm still catching up on dvd myself. Besides we're not really experts are critics because I think of ourselves more like guides are scifi shirtless I don't carry anyone's life style. And view of who we like all the viewers digest predominant TV yes we're interested in the conversation. Shifts to. And speaking of -- quite sure booths where to find one of those Craigslist. Two and I have to deal with."
" gimmick behind me how long. An unwritten hotline how can help you know public companies who here. And a commitment to -- but. I don't think that it. I am not. Okay. I hotly at -- hall. On an economic hot line."
" Cricket team in the house and -- to me pretty careful around hospitals and -- check coming up the stairs --"
" And now I don't like I say. I've got in this game please hold. The company's top. Of the hotline. If you're. Here today. Yeah and I think singer -- Sorry. Mike got candy at yard -- help me I've got updated steam and I knew he is so hot. Hold on -- com. Sunny DL watts."
" We usually -- yeah. I just -- any help all. -- and yeah. We need and at the non what do -- steps away. --"
" I don't do it I don't worst thing hack. You hard. And there."
" candy what did you just day. The game we. Like everything ghastly. And eat eat a lot yeah I'd like -- hot cast. Like to know about trivia cop watch finishes and like a dumb stuff. I loved that not. Each had it would have all. And that comes. Hard on TNT. Hold please. So are still like hot cast we can mean change my life I got it. So. CE -- today it's your -- I mean can I. I she sat out rents. For it and see how it and the week in week you're weekly podcast to source for all the -- news you can shake steak -- On the -- how we can Wheaton dot."
" Art now that's that time or we think we can Wheaton dot -- our bigger. --"
" I wouldn't it you're gonna --"
" I think I think most of -- faith. For me to -- observation about new media that. It strikes me in his first of -- I'd say I'm I'm just totally and publicly today not not condone it and romantic way but it doesn't hurt talent it's just. Awful and I want to point out that. I've been thinking more more about the so. And wonderful aspects of what -- the media which is it'll likely be Internet based presentation like let's suck or more for the -- Herschel. And I'm just struck it's just a moment ago I think about that that if it how to compare say redhead. You know Lucille Ball kind of like see how -- the godmother if you will new media one of the television. And Conchita almost fully two days appearing in a lot of these these shows and chief. Really. Spokesperson if you will for immediate feel like -- Lucille Ball per day in my mind and and I. I cannot get enough hopefully today in her appearance. In this. Show I'm her -- in the show it was one of the things that really drew me to what I mean on the top ten -- was -- probably feeding went into the -- today without my oh my god I got to see the."
" About an excellent point I don't know loan kick it back into the culture of the call that she's -- books or or soared after. Doctor horrible because it's an excellent example."
" But she's definitely an innovator. Time and she's gonna be somebody to continue to watch -- I didn't see any of the guild until after I saw. Doctor horrible but I think that Kevin. Might have seen. He certainly was fully aware that before hand."
" Yes minister. Merkel. It's called a work -- if you look at that you need it gives it should she. She and."
" And think clearly. This has been a huge boost for for the guild as well I mean having been bringing in this sort of the -- Sweden. And base which is not trivial by any stretch. Com and she's picked it up and people I think that it because she's sort of bridge the gap. Has made a big difference which would opening people's diets to achieve new media and an Internet publishing and an awful nuisance stuff so I think it. An acrylic -- her appearance in both of these. Could not just put too distraught to enjoy her work but I think that it it's sort of brought these two groups together in this. It snowballed into something else too and there's a lot of people paying attention now to this group PM -- beyond I mean this is this is big stuff."
" When the writers strike really has it's. I have been that's. As good pandora's box. -- popular interactive Indymedia and even think it's gonna get larger and larger which is batter and -- for and consumers of entertainment."
" Yes it's nice to see that -- being leveled a bit to the point that you don't have to go through the big Hollywood machine you're content creator were ordered -- finance and lower wages and people now. -- mindset to realize that there is somebody doesn't have to be on the big box can be should be entertaining and -- can look forward to an. And police should stop there is certainly -- groundbreaking to do it and it's funny though it's very. Similar concept being Internet based I think when I look at -- she talked horrible but I think part of what drew me into it aside from recognizing her name was. All. How much I could identify it. We -- struck chords -- us. I'll put myself in the category I'm not much an online gamer but I certainly consider myself to keep in minutes and are very quickly put those characters which made it that much more entertaining for me."
" I think you're right about back I I a and the non link you aren't so. Even you know -- watching. That prepared -- going I didn't hide it a little connect with what's going on here. But it it."
" It but I and I am also happening by the idea that."
" That Boehner headed opening up. These avenues for people who aren't don't have the answer Q. I'd. Be. Any network -- you know like the big companies and -- and they're allowed -- freedom until we get so much. A lot better. Entertainment a lot you know lot. More interest thing I guess. And I can look at the guild after soccer club like -- I appreciate your doctor horrible it. And with a click okay the president very interesting and I. -- I know what -- cheap cheap illegal and that the output that. It. -- I got I could you know I look at it another look at at at."
" Sure it's also nice to see new way to bolt these productions. And -- the new media model sensed that go. Also killed a doctor horrible they were first released totally free on the Internet and then iTunes in the case of doctor horrible. Could purchase that she's supporting them and -- bolt brawl sold on dvd as well to get more. Content behind the scenes features or whatever and still supporting the -- of them doing so. It's nice to see all these different avenues so that -- can still enjoyment I know the season three of the guilt. -- got an arrangement tickets might with Microsoft's sponsorship so that it's coming out like you to do a little earlier your Xbox subscriber but there. But later to just a general Internet so again -- different players -- different distribution method and partly."
" And it's a great business model for suckers like myself who will -- it note on I think it's. And the dvd and -- you know it's a bit of print version nine approaches that -- to your bleeding you for everything making it. And happy about it yeah we're at that. --"
" I think saying that it into thinking because. The fact that it was released for free and then they."
" The the other. He wouldn't bite something that they could get for free. And really and doctor horrible and the guild have taken that and just."
" Sean how Long Will that you know that -- conception of my need cake that you look at the -- production costs. Have a doctor horrible verses of China plans and sales figures. And I dvd sales. From doctor horrible look at my -- me effect but -- that fascinated by the fact that they can do this magnificent thing in so many different ways. He and you know have this very limited production cost. He has the benefit they're they're making money each. And did they put out this incredibly high quality product that we were talking about earlier with the quality of the production. Yeah and that data alone to me and great. Slap in the face. She's the big production --"
" Well it's it's -- to -- you did some networks and providers are gonna start react -- slowly they're larger and style but I know. Well on the street side IQB podcast we talk a little bit now I think it can be -- even doing some exclusive online content like comedy. Show called control. It's got to Erica directly national TV shows but its original content being only streamed online. Well by NBC it's a bit of attached so it is it's certainly leveling the playing field a bit for those of us don't feel we got together -- traditional methods which I think it's exciting it's Texas we all know being podcasters. Did a lot of the creative people up here that we see nor heard on podcasts are not blogs running Celtics thing. She would be -- that person had a platform to speak provide. I'd buy their contact -- and I'd be glad or Kevin to pay -- twice because I know the money's going more directly to them. At some studio."
" And I think we're gonna look back a few years from now."
" And it is important events that have happened in new media and I think that the release."
" Doctor horrible is going to be. And -- very important isn't historically -- For lot of mediated that this committee not yet even concede. Or delivery methods that haven't been nailed down yet I think that this is really. --"
" Brought the idea that this can happen to a group of people that never."
" Even thought that this could happen and believe that this is going to be remembered as such going forward. I grew. Up had a."
" It's interesting too because obviously it's senator earlier don't look for a lot of us was jobs or maybe police show up those each -- had an existing candidates but once you get a chance to show it to some folks ended. It is a little bit of a hard sell it I must admit -- is great little lead you to people to watch but sure you know it is very entertain you but get someone to sit down to watch doctor horrible just see their reaction that -- about certain goods. We -- exactly -- artist in the first few minutes maybe but it it's always entertaining to watch. Them try to kick its -- and see what's going on what it's it's quite fun to try to spread the word like."
" But Kevin I think you bring it to that point too because I've. And I've -- a lot of my friends and family over the years about John Sweden's dolphins and trying to get them to to watch on the community and for the people that I was pushing and on they would be. I'm likely to like it and loved it eventually but it's very difficult to get somebody to sit down and take on an entire season of television and in that way doctor horrible has been sort of a gateway drug into the Sweden versus. And then if somebody can spend 45 minutes. How much anybody can just to kind of watch something and they can -- wound it really has something to this guy in his works. So again now channel watch that fired plant used to people shut up about or outlook to kind of watch -- NN what is. Done for me has given me a really great cool. -- Sharing this this. Large body portion of the very passionate about the larger group because we give them a sort of a concentrated waited to get their feet left."
" Interestingly. I was just thinking that now meant to -- could have come and for job for for police but I think it was the master stroke. Can involve Neil Patrick Harris the -- and then on the that's an entirely different. Demographic in some ways. People would comment in C. Just for -- and which we haven't really talked about. The united stated -- masterful. To bring in somebody like that."
" Seemed to balance that your mother brought an absolutely. -- Yeah because that's like lick my cousin actually look if she'd watch doctor horrible because of Neil Patrick Eric."
" And and I can look you like that year and I think you'll like firefly and she didn't really need in lenient in violation sat down."
