" sometimes received criticism for supporting our show so strongly -- only have a few episodes. According to some it's impossible to judge that you quality of shows that didn't have time to evolve and change over the course of seasons. In other words they say that proud -- don't have retrospective judgment. And deceived into had been an utter disaster we wouldn't be speaking so highly of what we had. I'm not hit argue that point exactly. We can't know what would have happened of course. What I am here to do -- share my opinion on what I consider one of the most promising aspects of firefly. Another four years of articles on this podcasts alone have shown the first deep and rich beyond what would be expected from the plank. This though it's not necessarily an indicator that show can run for five seasons and maintain originality and quality. Once that's indicator may be found in a tangential quality however. And that isn't a -- of the rag -- ship on the edge of the universe. What -- dangers of episodic scifi that focuses on a -- and her crew is the organization facts. Unless story Bible is complete at the start of the series they're going to be development and discovery is along the way that made giant fans out of the universe. Moments where -- observe and fans might go away if they had this reactor all along why didn't you an episode five or. Should we have heard this alliance before work these instances did not damage show on their own but a steady supply of them alienate an audience over the long term. Unlike shows such as Star Trek for example where the rules and organization of the federation should remain consistent from the beginning. France has very few limitations. There is no set pattern the crew the -- characters and their for the show are almost the very definition of flexible. In principle to show revolves around criminal activities each week but you can't even say that. The -- cells are criminals they're perfectly capable of doing legal work as well. And their illegal work can range from transporting cattle to volunteering to aid a brothel to pulling -- on hospital. It's hard to see a point where -- and down the line of fire flank and could possibly have gone hey why weren't they doing kind of job all along. Variety is the spice to television as well of life and it's best to have it built in from the start. Likewise serenity herself isn't -- much. Well basic function should remain constant her abilities are flexible to change with the situation. How much weight she carrying how damaged she. What notifications have kidney recently done. All these things will change the dynamic of how she reacts and any particular episode including speed and maneuverability. This love both great leeway for storytellers and a large fountain story potential as well. Episodes like out of -- show that you can go along way with only shipped to drive the plot. The true is another flexible aspect where -- are expected to happen in half hazard assortment. It casts a bit lost along the way there would not have needed to be much and waving to right amount or -- another cast member and serenity the Rolling Stone but when it stops rolling it could pick up any number of monsters realistically. Another way that fireflies structure would've protected it over a long term as the distance from the major action. The versus political set ups and issues that our crew is not involved in them. They remain at ten and comments in the background with a good storytelling reason as our characters do not wish to be involved. At any point in the future however these -- and delved into by simply getting characters are reasons to be interested in them but by having main characters who are detached from the big concerns of the universe it makes -- concerns of flexible support the story. And facts about -- not need to be known at the start of series and last but not least the criminal theme of the show adds another layer of flexibility recurring characters can -- without the flashing neon signs signaling Ret conned because of this on the run and suspicious aspects if we ever -- important person start characters' pasts. There'd be a dozen reasons to explain why they had been avoiding each other for so Long -- gifted storytellers a whole bank of characters that could have been slowly released one by one as the story went on. And yet if we never met some of them there would be an excuse for us as well in the time would we may have to accept that there will be no firefly the TV series this flexibility is more than an intellectual exercise in prediction in works such as audio dramas and -- films may take full advantage of the story potential. And turn -- work that even without access to the fireplace story Bible may fit neatly within the universe as portrayed on screen with so few limitations set in place the possibilities boggle the mind and should encourage every creative -- to explore them further impacted the main arguments Indians none of these points says that firefly -- succeeded in maintaining quality over many -- whatever -- resource that -- still comes down to the execution of the story -- And that lies at the feet of their writers.
