" Back up north country hit back. I'd tell you what some of that happiness failures in my life were spent a little bit further south. But here in Syracuse and -- in the that was from my deceased wife lived in. But I used to be a lifeguard on Ontario please call sandy pot tonight. The first time that 28 year old kid is all he's ever been as a light cardinal lawyer. But I enjoyed hadn't halfway up here. Every. Every day every weekend during the summer is an animal lifeguards there and I. And I miss it but -- look I have nothing but good memories about here and I learned I learn a lot those years I was up here -- Syracuse with."

" My deceased wife and her family this is a place where people look out for one. This is a place. This place for people can count on their neighbors. This is the place I know from my own experience that. That I've watched -- people appear. This a place where character and integrity matters it matters a whole lot. A place where people have strong views but it doesn't mean they have closed minds. A place for people. No what they believe but it doesn't mean that they stop listening to another person's point of view. A place where common sense in mainstream values. Prevail not extreme values not extreme views I've never observed anything I'm serious think about it. Think about all of you up here. Think about all you folks this just this has never been a place that embrace extremism on the left or there. This is a place that's incredibly pragmatic. It's a paper a lot of people worked real hard. Real hard. It worked real hard to build -- families to build a decent circumstance where the neighborhood in this town in the community in this city. The place where people are proud to live. This a place where people -- very different views are included in the debate they're not cast aside. And that's one of the reasons why what's what's happening in this campaign is is in the sense so strange is so important. You know by the idea that the man we picked to. To join the administration mainstream Republican guy who was a decent. Honorable guy who's making. A great a great contribution to the United States of America right now. Creative Rush Limbaugh own handpicked successor. Is kind of unusual. Okay. You know the most extreme wing of the Republican Party made clear. In this campaign that there were gonna tolerate any dissent. There's sort of an absolutist. I mean necessarily. Even The Wall Street Journal and editorial today saying well this is a good thing but I hope Republicans don't repeat this all around the country. They went on to point out that. That how Democrats made mistakes offending some folks on the conservative side I've been Joe -- friend. For years and years argued for Joe Lieberman to stay in the party is in the party. But they go and you Joe Lieberman as an example they say they hope the Republican Party actually doesn't learn the wrong lesson. From -- that's The Wall Street Journal I think I'm accurately paraphrasing them today. Look float the idea that day we've got to point particularly in this part of the world. This part of the country where you cannot tolerate any dissent. You know they made it clear they really clear after they would not accommodate any differing views they really Clinton went on except. Any range of views even with their own part within their own party. Well folks maybe the republics and got Republican national Republican Party has gotten a place. Where where they'll not tolerate any view but there but there neo conservative views of the world. You know the idea that that that and by the way this guy's a friend of mine Dick Armey. Dick Armey of Texas very conservative guy I would have thought the last person I bring up to north country would be. Did you know army and he's he's a decent guy. But he represents a view that so alien. It seems to meet the sort of the pragmatism of north country and you know former Texas congressman Sarah Palin. A former. Look you know she just has. Her her views are you know are are real -- consistently armies would Rush Limbaugh with Dick Cheney I mean look this is not. Look these guys are entitled to their views I know warm going to reject. Them on hand just dismiss them because abuses of different than mine and I think they should dismiss people's. Who have. Views differed from earth but vote. This is that this is different ethnic. This is a different ideologies they're creating I've known in March 45 years of being familiar with this history. You know they may not have any room for moderate views in the Republican Party upstate you -- but let me assure you. We have room. We have room."
