I don't know like sort of feel like. You're right about this regarding a cigar I mean certainly there -- some barometer here of the mood of the country and a couple of places but. I do feel like next year the twenties and mid term elections are much bigger indication of the country's. Opinion of Obama I mean you you know you could argue this either way and I'm not sure they're really sweating it tonight."

" Well the what the one place David Gergen was in the piece that preceded my whole thought there and David Gergen and I agree with a whether it's fair or not he didn't say that. If all three of these races that congressional race -- pounds involved in. New Jersey governor's race in Virginia's governor -- all go Republican then the headlines from our going to be clearly the GOP is on a -- whether it's true or not of them welfare."

" I have no I absolutely right I mean I think they'll -- crow about that for for days and days and days and and you have Sarah Palin involve some of these races yet an international figures. They have tried to make these. These contests a referendum on Obama whether or not they are you know again I think it's open to interpretation but. You can be you can be pretty sure that especially in I think in Virginia in particular. That the GOP is going to be screaming about this that they went that. Why not -- a referendum on Obama are being fact did you see -- that's New Jersey where what -- Corzine has -- the belly of Chris Christie. Moving slowly back and forth as he's talking about the candidates throwing his weight around I mean -- there could be a backlash of sorts now. Yeah I mean Corzine. Was facing have you know. Fairly sizable uphill. -- here earlier in the year and clearly decided that the only way that. He was gonna win was dispensed on this millions. Taking down Chris Christie. And they did a remarkable job of even in the race and now I guess it's it's somewhat of a toss up but yet the the V wade adds I think we're we're we're something to remember -- a fellow -- myself in my earlier life I was a fan that I have to say let's go up to -- present at 49 lower forty -- watching this thing. Question one you know vote. Would keep gay marriage -- the six state a yes vote would -- well it's a big race though I think this is a fairly big deal I mean you've got the gay rights groups who are really looking to push back on their locks last year in California remember voters there. Rejected gay marriage it was a big deal. They're just at a time when it looked like this was gaining acceptance around the country now you've got this collection of New England states as well as Iowa. That it that it said yes to gay marriage of course Massachusetts was first. And I think all eyes. Sort of an social conservative movement and then on this sort of social little liberal -- and on the other side are. Very much on Maine tonight to see if voters. Are are gonna ratified this or if they're gonna reject it like California --"

" And I think they're they're the bigger significance is everybody who was not supporter of gay marriage was able dismissed masters is dissolved as -- on elected judges. Men and other places always those nutty legislators here after a series of defeats unanimous defeats on the ballot. Whenever the voters vote they vote against gay marriage this will be the first of the no side prevails. Where are gay marriages endorsed by the people correct."

" Exactly and I think that is exactly right why this is so significant I believe that every yet I think it's been thirty ballot questions and America -- country every one of them. Has gone against gay marriage if this one goes for maybe it does is something. About the this returning tide of public opinion on this."

" There's one more sort of ballot question where you're sitting at the question do you like that Tom -- sixteen years in one form more or not the thing this of -- is that there is running very spirited campaign I think the reality is it's to -- closer at worst. And anything that Menino is seen but it is really a referendum on Tom Menino is that not."

" Absolutely I mean even in the sort of closing days of the race when he talked to people who are voting for flared a and you ask them why they talk about Menino you know they sixteen years is enough for terms is enough. It's very rarely even in the closing days of -- campaign do you hear people talk about an idea that flared clarity has a planet clarity has. So I think very much this is a referendum on Menino and you know to that end I think it's important tonight not just to look at the you know who wins but the margin of victory mean if it is fairly close to that single digits. You know I think that's a -- institute to Mayor -- that looked as almost half the city is dissatisfied with the way things are going. You know by the same token if it's 1520 point spread I think he's you know smile and pretty good -- he's doing things right. Given that is that single -- thing very quickly start and the so called messages sent is -- on message receiving coming dollars is you his wealth of just term onward and upward. I think that's a good question and I think I think it would be a hard message to all of -- if it were very close. And and I think he you know you're right certainly he does the what he does things the way he does them in and has been doing in that way for for many years. But I think you'll be very hard. For him to sort of claim this huge mandate if it war if it weren't tight race now of course what happens if someone in the middle and you know -- fight over whether or not amended and -- So final question yes I do love nights like these yes or no. I do I do I mean these are services are of a weird year because of the sort of off election here but you know here we are uninteresting race and that. For mayor we've got a pretty good City Council race going and you know these Grossman has to be here.
