MIT scholars Barry Posen, Taylor Fravel, and Carol Saivetz are participating in a roundtable discussion on foreign policy and the next U.S. administration. This discussion is the first in a series of forward-thinking talks on pressing global issues in which MIT experts offer advice to the next U.S. president. The Starr Forum event, Foreign Policy and the Next U.S. Administration , will be on Thurs, Sept 18, at 6:00p, in the Tang Center, MIT Bldg 51-315. CIS Starr Forums are free and open to the public. BARRY POSEN , Ford International Professor of Political Science at MIT and director of the CIS Security Studies Program, is widely published and makes frequent media appearances to discuss the Iraq War, a nuclear Iran, international security, and other pressing issues. Most recently, he testified before Congress on a new grand strategy for the next U.S. president. CAROL SAIVETZ , a visiting scholar at MIT’s Center for International Studies and research associate at Harvard University’s Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, has written widely on Soviet and now Russian foreign policy issues and is currently working on a book on Putin’s foreign policy. TAYLOR FRAVEL , an associate professor of political science at MIT and member of the CIS Security Studies Program, studies international relations with a focus on international security, China and East Asia. His recent book, Strong Borders, Secure Nations, examines China security and is cited as a benchmark study.
