Those are some of the findings of the Government Accountability Office that investigated attempts to improve veterans health after the Washington Post uncovered dilapidated facilities and shoddy care at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Our guest is Mark Benjamin, National Correspondent for Salon.com. Did the death this year of a young boy from untreated tooth decay spotlight the gaps in a federal health care program for millions of poor children? That question is being asked as Congress considers reauthorization of the State Children's Health Insurance Program or S-CHIP. The program expires at the end of this week and President Bush a veto because the House and Senate are expected to boost spending on the program by 35-billion-dollars.
