Engineering Leadership Lab: Communicating Under Adverse Conditions ("The Hot Zone")

Engineering Leadership Lab: Communicating Under Adverse Conditions ("The Hot Zone")

On October 23, Gordon Engineering Leader candidates participated in a "Leadership Reaction Course". Planned and executed by Senior GELs, the LRC featured a series of exercises in which Junior GELs discovered the value of effective team communications and grew to understand via experiential learning the concepts of delivering a project on time, on budget and to specifications. This is the fourth in a series of "shorts" that capture the LRC exercises, including the rationale behind each exercise, how student leaders performed, and a debrief led by Senior GELs and program staff highlighting lessons learned.

I got to visit the 2009 e-Kart Challenge, held in Tours, France. The challenge uses a friendly electric go-kart competition to motivate educational projects in engineering (mechanical, electrical, computer). The teams come from high-school and university levels and must design for both speed and endurance.
